Bishop Barry visits Sancta Maria

Today Barry Jones our Bishop of Christchurch visited Sancta Maria Montessori. We had prepared some of our favourite prayer songs to share with him. We welcomed him to our preschool and sang ‘The sign of the cross,’ ’The Our Father,’ ’Wonderful Lord,’ and ‘Here I am to Worship.’ We then showed him a sample of what we have been learning in the Catechism of the Good Shepherd and Harrison showed how we set the altar and what each symbol represents. The Bishop was very impressed with our children’s singing and knowledge. We then shared a very delicious morning tea together outside. Bishop Barry asked if he could visit again another time and we look forward to this. Thanks to the parents and families who were also able to attend.

Celebrating Father’s Day

We decided to bake special biscuits with the children to celebrate and give to our Dads on their special day. The children were involved in the entire process of measuring, mixing, rolling and cutting out the heart and person–shaped choc chip biscuits. We wrapped them in a special cellophane bag with ribbons and a tie-shaped card to present to our Dads. We had lovely feedback from the families that the Dads really appreciated their special gift.
We hope all the Dads and families had a fabulous Father’s Day together. You deserve it!
